Using OneDrive for Business to Backup PC Files (Windows 10)

On a device provided by your department (laptop or desktop) you should, wherever possible, use either department file storarage - known as 'File Store', 'The File Server', 'The [O] Drive' - or OneDrive, or a combination of both to store your files. In both cases the files are not stored only on your local device and are backed up and available if you work from a different device or location.

It is also possible to configure OneDrive for Business (your Nexus OneDrive) provided by the University, to backup some local PC files. You can see the instructions including a video here. Or use the quick guide below.

You can back up your important folders on your PC (your Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders) with OneDrive, so they're protected and available on other devices.

  1. Select the OneDrive cloud icon in the Windows notification area, right (or alternate button) click, select Help & Settings Settings, then Backup > Manage backup.

  2. Select the folders that you want to back up.

  3. Select Start backup
